Topical Plasters

Herbs and essential oils have traditionally been placed on the skin so that the active constituents of the botanical can be absorbed in to the blood stream and initiate healing. Some forms of herbal remedies include compresses made with decocted herbs or fresh herb poultices.

Plasters use beeswax to suspend herbs and essential oils while creating a barrier prolonging the exposure time of the therapies making them more effective. Essential oils placed directly on the skin will evaporate quickly due to the heat of the skin and plasters prevent quick evaporation of these volatile compounds.

Plasters are not only a more effective way of delivering herbal therapies, but they are also convenient to use.
